Within Wansdyke District, there are four Scouting Sections. Three are organised within Scout Groups, and these are Beaver Scouts for six to eight year olds, Cub Scouts for eight to ten and a half year olds, and Scouts for ten and a half to fourteen year-olds. There is some flexibility around the age ranges to allow for those who develop early or late, or who have friends that they wish to move on with. Each of these sections are overseen by Assistant District Commissioners to ensure that an appropriate programme is delivered, and that the sections are individually organised correctly. In addition to this supervision, each section is part of a Group functionally managed by a Group Scout Leader. The sections themselves are run by Section Leaders (Beaver Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and Scout Leader), with the support of Assistant Leaders, Section Assistants, Skills Instructors, and occasional helpers. The Explorer Scout Section is slightly different in its organisation, and is overseen by a District Explorer Scout Commissioner, and District Explorer Scout Administrator. Individual Units may be attached to Groups, but are not locally managed within the Group. Each Unit is run by an Explorer Scout Leader, supported by Assistant Leaders.
