The Beavers of 1st Midsomer Norton Scout Group have recently been investigating how things work by looking at different ways to build up modelling bricks to ensure safe and sturdy structures, how to light a bulb using a simple circuit, and the properties and uses of magnets. Beaver Leader, Catherine Josham remarked “Not only was the evening lots of fun, with the Beavers able to play with magnets and examine how electricity works, but they have also completed work towards two more badges”. Ottawa Colony, as they are known, have also grown cress seeds in different environments and predicted the results, researched what conditions are best for growing seeds, and used food colouring to dye sticks of celery as part of their ongoing badge work this term. The beavers will be busy for the rest of this term: trying to gain more badges, and participating in the annual remembrance parade in the High Street and the Midsomer Norton Carnival in November.
