The Scout Section is the senior section in Scouting, being formed first in 1907. It is also for the oldest Scouts within Scout Groups. The Scout Programme for the Section is far more adventurous than the younger Beaver and Cub Scout Sections, and for the first time in Scouting, young members are given a large degree of autonomy in selecting the activities that they wish to do in the programme, and also in the running of their section. Patrol Leaders are part of the Group's management, and are entitled to vote on issues at AGMs. The Patrol Leaders Council, or Troop Forum sets the programme in agreement with the Leaders. Scouts can also undertake activities with little or no supervision, and this is part of the programme to build confidence and self-sufficiency.
