Welcome to the
Wansdyke District Scouts
Website
Wansdyke District Scouts covers the towns
and villages of North East Somerset including Keynsham, Saltford,
Midsomer Norton, Clutton, High Littleton, Paulton, Peasedown St John,
and all the villages in between, and around including as far out as Chew
Valley, and Publow and Pensford.
Scouting is thriving in the area, with lots
of growth in the individual Scout Groups both in terms of numbers, and
the activities undertaken. Beaver Colonies, Cub Packs, Scouts Troops and
Explorer Scout Units are opening all over the District. With weekly
activities, and camps and trips throughout the year, there is no reason
for any young person in the District or the surrounding villages to be
bored.
Scouts are the biggest youth organisation in
the world, with 28 Million members. In the UK alone there are 500,000
adult and youth members, in 24,000 Colonies, Packs, Troops, Units and
Networks. The Scout Association has a clear purpose:
To help young people achieve
their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as
individuals, as responsible citizens and as Members of their local,
national and international communities.
Why not come along to an evening and see
what you think. Lots of the activities that we do are shown in this
website, so why not have a look, to see if it is the sort of thing you
might enjoy.
This year, is the 100th anniversary
of Baden-Powell's first Scout Camp at Brownsea Island. The celebrations
and activities to mark the Scouting centenary will make the year
one of the most exiting for Scouts (of all ages) ever; there has never
been a better time to join the adventure of Scouting.
